My Artist Voice
I have always been drawn to things that have been forgotten, old homes, old furniture and the stories their walls might hold. A rare find of antique wallpaper led me into discovering a language of layering over the old, replacing what was once relevant, fashionable, loved. Yet beneath the layers, the history remains - the traces of lives once lived. These forgotten fragments have become a part of my visual language.
My recent work centers on a local homestead and how its land has been reshaped by modern urban sprawl. I find I question the tension between progress and preservation, people and place, ownership and the land itself. The forgotten becomes my material. The layers become my language.
